Well Hemel snow centre finally opened and having driven past the building site every day for the the last 18 months it was nice to see what they had achieved.
Ok so they’ve built a nice looking indoor Ski slope which no matter how large they claim it to be is still too short to be entertaining for anyone but a beginner. On top of that what they have managed to do is be health and safety mad. Maddie was only allowed in the childrens corner – a flat patch of hard ice supposedly for making snowmen, an activity “so dangerous” she had to wear a helmet! (Litigation has a lot to answer for the nanny state we all now live in.)
Worse though was that she wasn’t allowed officially on the toboggan slope until she’s 4!! Having sledged down steeper hills in the alps all a bit disappointing (not to mention expensive) Thankfully she did manage to sneak on for several doughnut rides much to her great amusement so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.
Just a shame that they don’t start lessons until they are 4 as I was hoping Maddie could have got some practice in before next years trip.
